Abstract

The Campi Flegrei are a striking example of a polysemic cultural landscape, where history, nature, myth and literature intertwine. This contribution, part of the PE5 CHANGES project, analyses the construction of the flegrea complexities through two lenses: the iconographic summa by Mario Cartaro (1584), which established the figurative semantic model of the Terra Ardente, together with its geographical perimeter, and the alum mines of Agnano, whose historical events have been reconstructed
