Abstract

Although Aleksandr Blok’s poetics and aesthetics are consolidated into one great basic idea, his lyrical style does not appear static, much less repetitive. Here, through the prism of the concept of “language of the other”, which is so appropriate for his work, we offer a very brief itinerary through Blok’s lyrical universe which, subject to inevitable approximations and omissions, local deviations and contingent countertrends, is capable of offering a satisfactory picture of this author’s poetic corpus in its diachronic development.

This contribution was published in the volume Sui primi poeti del Novecento: la generazione degli anni Ottanta, edited by Giuseppe Merlino, Rome, Bulzoni, 1995, pp. 81–100 («I libri dell’Associazione Sigismondo Malatesta. Studi di letteratura comparata e teatro», 6).
