Un “manico di patera” del Metropolitan Museum

The text is dedicated to a brief analysis of a basin handle in the shape of a male figure with raised arms, falling within the category of the “anthropomorphous patera handles” of the Acropolis type, unanimously attributed to the Athenian production. The handle is characterized by a cicada, on which the kouros rests. It is an unusual decoration for the bronze vessels and only few comparisons can be mentioned, which refer to the Greek area.
