The maturation of narrative skills is a critical cognitive milestone for child’s development: the task of telling a story entails the integration of linguistic and metalinguistic capacities, and a deep involvement of mnemonic and executive functions. The paper aims at evaluating the mastery of complex syntax and the development of cohesion discourse strategies in Italian pre-school children with Developmental Language Disorder. Narrative texts have been elicited in a semi-spontaneous context, by means of three retelling tasks.
