This paper aims at illustrating the logonims pertaining to the “modalità fonetiche del dire” recurring in the artes lectoriae, school texts conceived, at the latest, starting from the last 20 years of the 11th century, for instructing the planus lector and those who were taking care of the copy and the emendatio of the Christian sacred and liturgical texts heritage. The artes lectoriae reveal a very deep osmotical interplay between orthoepic and ortographic needs, and this paper focuses on the attention and the concern not only toward a correct speech production to be performed during the plana lectio, but also toward an adequate message reception and decodification by the adressees.
