Abstract

THE REUSE OF MINOR CENTERS ARCHITECTURAL EMERGENCIES
AS A RECOVERY STRATEGY FOR INLAND AREAS
Abstract
The contribution investigates the criticalities of inland areas as an opportunity for renewal
of the territorial policies of minor historic centers. The reactivation of representative
buildings of the abandoned cultural heritage can become a potential resource for the
experimentation of innovative territorial strategies. The community’s ability to attribute a
system of potential values to some disused architectural emergencies allows them to
assume the role of drivers in territorial transformations. The case study is the network of
architectural emergencies from San Cipriano Picentino to Vignale, protected sites of the
Monti Picentini Regional Park. The methodology integrates analytical approaches of
Recovery Technology with field experimentation in order to explore new forms of
empowerment of material culture able to mitigate the minor historic centers abandonment.
