Para Physin. Aristotelian and Non-Aristotelian Insights Into the Concept of the Machine

By reading the first pages of The Pseudo-Aristotelian Mechanics, the distinction between “according to nature” and “against nature” is reviewed and corrected: it is not a radical opposition, but rather a kind of symbiosis between two ways of proceeding that are realised both in nature and technically. This contributes to understanding the difference between the machine and its mechanism in the context of the Aristotelian distinction between the four causes.
