Also based on some interviews with Souriya Al-Kahlaoui, in this paper I contextualize the contents of her research and of her documentary work. In the documentary Landless Moroccans (Morocco, 2017, 50’), the sociologist examines the reasons of the ancient Guich tribe’s protests for the right to the land in Rabat. And she explores the struggles of women who resist to the interaction between patriarchal norms, colonial provisions and neo-liberal economic interests. Also paying attention to the complex role of Souriya al-Kahlaoui as researcher and activist, I define her action-research approach as an example of ‘citizen research’ that gives visibility and power of speech to the protagonists of the social phenomenon investigated and recreates its own connection with the Moroccan identity and citizenship.Downloads
