Marco Meriggi, Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II

Marco Meriggi (Rome 1955) teaches History of Political Institutions
He graduated in 1978 in Modern History at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Milan and he was later (1981-82) fellow at the Institut für Europäische Geschichte in Mainz. He subsequently held various periods of research and teaching abroad at the invitation of the University of Bielefeld (1987), that of Berlin (Freie Universitaet, 1997 and 2007/2008), the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) Paris (2004 and 2013). He carried out research and participated in conferences of study in the following foreign countries: Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Portugal, Great Britain, Switzerland, USA.
He previously taught, as a researcher, history of political and social institutions in the Faculty of Sociology, University of Trento (1984-1992) and, as an Associate Professor, Modern History at the Faculty of Humanities of Trieste (1992-1995) and Verona (1995-1998). Since the academic year 1998/99 he teaches History of political institutions at the Federico II and from 2001 he is Professor of History of Political Institutions.
He is part of the editorial board of the journals "Historical" and "Cards and History" and he is currently President of the Italian Society for the Study of the history of institutions.
His studies concerned mainly relations between society and political power in Europe from Seven to the twentieth century and problems of historical method. He is now directing its research on issues of global history and transnational history.
