Abstract

Sport governance in Italy is entrusted (almost) entirely to men. At the top of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), in presidencies or committees of sports federations the role of women is extremely marginal, despite the number of Olympic, world and European medals being awarded to great Italian sportswomen. Currently there is no organic plan to achieve gender equality in these bodies, which in fact makes sport in Italy an almost exclusivelymale business.
