Abstract

The essay investigates the interesting experimental case of autarchic construction the 'Village of the Littorio', built between 1941 and 1943 in Tirana by Italian architects and engineers. The study aims to introduce a first systematic research on the case, filling a historiographical gap, thanks to the investigation carried out in different archival fonds in Italy and Albania and the cross-referencing of unpublished sources in order to popularize the knowledge and historical, architectural and documentary interest of such a facility and to urge the recognition of its value by the community and local authorities.
