Abstract

In 1851, Francis Nevile Reid purchased the ruins of the Rufolo Palace in Ravello, initiating an extensive restoration and landscape redevelopment project. He transformed the vast surrounding grounds into a luxuriant panoramic garden, where elements of exotic, English, and mediterranean character were harmoniously integrated. Following this successful intervention, Villa Rufolo has been recognized over the years as an iconic emblem of the city of Ravello on the international stage.
