Abstract

Since the second half of the XIX century the celebrative photography and the documentary photography (Mission Héliographiques, 1851) exist together, but the largest photographic campaign is the American Farm Security Administration (1935). In 1936 the VI Triennial of Milan hosts the Mostra sull’Architettura Rurale of Giuseppe Pagano and Guarniero Daniel: Pagano photographs honestly Italy as a country free from a pride of regime. In the same years and in the same intellectual circle Federico Patellani, the first Italian photojournalist grows. His work is collected in the Fondo Federico Patellani, that is able to offer, even today, many interesting cues to the historian of architecture and landscape.
