Abstract

Villa Cicogna Mozzoni, one of the most important Renaissance villas in Lombardy, is completed by a Mannerist garden to which later Baroque and late-Baroque interventions are added. In these spaces, a staircase enclosing a "water chain" ascends the hill behind the building and shows over time stratifications of different influences and projects from the Tuscan-Roman area first and from the French garden then through both concretely realized models and printed publications.
