Abstract

In 1797, at the request of the General Captain of Catalonia, a large tree-lined boulevard was planned in Barcelona close to where the Estación de Francia train stations is located. It was remodeled in 1802 on the occasion of the visit of Charles IV and Marie Louise of Parma. For many years it was considered the first public garden in the city. Its ancient layout, of significant length, remains today through a route ending very close to the park of the military
fortress of the Citadel.
