In this second issue of its 7th year, "Eikonocity" opens with a theoretical reflection and a research article. The first is signed by Michael Jakob, an authoritative scholar of the history and theory of landscape, who clearly argues why it is improper to use the definition of "urban landscape", since landscape cannot be both landscape, i.e. a space other than the city, and urban space; the second research article reconstructs the story of the design, realisation and functional evolution of the urban centre supporting the Solvay industry in Tuscany at the beginning of the 20th century.
The second group of articles instead interweaves the iconography of the city with the history of photography, and are of particular interest for the history of the iconography of European cities, because they are placed to the side with respect to the much more fortunate coeval photography of cities that in the meantime was enhancing and enriching the imagery of the West in the phase of early globalisation.
