Abstract

This paper aims to describe the phenomena of intertextuality (in particular, of allusion) present in Angelo Maria Ripellino’s Praga magica (1973). The aim is to show how he drew heavily from at least sixteen Italian Mannerist and Baroque authors (among the most employed authors are Francesco Fulvio Frugoni, Pietro Aretino, Daniello Bartoli and Giambattista Basile). It can be said that the essayist, without almost never mentioning them explicitly, used his literary sources at a lexical, syntagmatic and phrasal level. The analysis of intertextuality will also allow us to focus on the composite nature of Ripellino’s expressionistic prose.
