Abstract

The paper deals with testamentary provisions about imbreviature drafted by some notaries in Milan and Milanese countryside in the 15th century. On the one hand, the transmission of notarial acts appears to be fully in accordance with local legislation (particularly regarding the precise designation of heirs suited to exercise the facultas expletandi); on the other hand, the case studies give us a glimpse of the influence of family arrangements, patrimonial strategies as well as, sometimes, personal devotion.
