Abstract

This paper introduces the monographic section on Episcopal Sees and Small Towns in Late Medieval Italy. The collected essays focus on the resilience of the diocesan structures and the relationship between episcopal sees and small towns at the time. Attention is paid to the dynamics and chronologies of territorial reconfiguration, and the questionnaire adopted within the individual essays is clarified.
