Medieval sociology or the Middle Ages of sociologists?

The paper aims to provide an introduction to the dossier structured as a multi-voice reading of Alexis Fontbonne’s book Introduction à la sociologie médiévale, CNRS Editions, Paris 2023. It summarises the salient features of the work and indicates some potential for further developments and some limitations, both in terms of contents and in terms of the methodology proposed.
