Abstract

The response engages with the contributions by Christina Abel, Martin Bauch, and Caterina Cappuccio in the context of the discussion surrounding the edited volume Carlo IV e l’Italia. It addresses the key themes highlighted in their reviews – ranging from the environmental history of the fourteenth century and the actors and networks surrounding Charles IV to the supposed crisis of the late medieval imperial presence in Italy.
