Abstract

Multiple ethnic and religious components coexisted during the 5th and 6th Centuries in Neapolis, as it emerges from literary sources as well as from archaeological evidences. Such sources demonstrate the presence in Naples of Christians escaping from the Vandals’ persecution as well as of a large group of Jews engaging in trade. The analysis of epigraphs provides valuable data especially regarding the role and characters of the Jewish Neapolitan community.
