Abstract

The article systematically re-examine the records of Dante’s political career in Florence in order to better understand the political profile of Dante and the importance of this experience in his life. Dante political engagement appears to be specially connected to a group of members of the Arts who tried to make the popular program more moderate after the radical phase leaded by Giano della Bella and then contributed to white party. The events and the issues discussed in that period left important traces in his memory and in the Commedia.
