Abstract

This article aims to analyse the management of the lands of princes in Lombard Southern Italy, in the 10th and 11th centuries; the principality of Salerno presents the most abundant documentation on this subject. The forms of management appear very different in the public lands and in the personal patrimonies of the princes. It can be read in terms of political culture, rather than economic logic.
