The essay is a wide synthesis - later published in Dalle origini alle chiese contemporanee (From the origines to the contemporary churches, edited by R. Rusconi, Turin 2006; [Il Cristianesimo. Grande Atlante, edited by G. Alberigo, G. Ruggieri, R. Rusconi, 1], pp. 72-89) - that countervails the monolitical view of the big Christianization process, highlighting its several models and patterns.
