Abstract

This study outlines the progressive institutional consolidation of the Chapter of the Cathedral of Padua and the self-image that such an ecclesiastical body offered the city and the outer world (reflecting rather than antagonizing the bishop’s stand). The article draws upon several kinds of sources (archival records, liturgical books, which are examined for their symbolic value, too).
