Abstract

Focusing on the fiscal and criminal provisions of the Statutes, the author analyzes the transformations in the Florentine legislation between 1409 (when Giovanni from Montegranaro prepared the first draft, reflecting the previous tradition) and 1415 (when Paul from Castro introduced changes that marked a significant turning point). The article also makes a few general remarks about the relationship between jurists and political institutions.
