This paper deals with the public notaries, or public scribes, working at the Kingdom of Seville, in Castille, during the second half of the 16thcentury. We have focused our study on the public documents elaborated by these professionals in order to determine what the process of writing these public instruments consisted of, what these instruments were, in how many phases they were set, who was responsible for the implementation of each of these phases and if they were similar to those described in other territories. The division of tasksand the internal organization of the offices are also analysed##submission.downloads##
