English article title: The literature of postmemory, characteristics and peculiarities. Gábor T. Szántó and his stories
The aim of this essay is to investigate the characteristics and peculiarities of postmemory literature and its relationship with Holocaust memoirs. Taking into account Marianne Hirsch’s suggestions on Postmemory and the literary legacies of Primo Levi and Imre Kertész, the author seeks to define the new generation of writers who evoke the Holocaust not through personal recollection but through imaginative investment, projection, and creation – as Hirsch herself states. Specifically, attention is focused on the Hungarian writer Gábor T. Szántó (b. 1966) and on his stories: as regards style and content. A new scenario in contemporary literature is now opened.
