Author Biographies

Giampiero Lombardini, Department of Architecture and Design, University of Genoa

He is an Associate Professor of Spatial Planning at the Department of Architecture & Design, University of Genoa . He holds a PhD in Town Planning and Architecture from the same institution. His work focuses on sustainable urban development, regional planning, and the transformation of complex territories such as coastal areas and port cities. He has published widely on topics like ecosystem services, bioregional planning, urban regeneration, and environmental assessment. He also teaches urban planning and collaborates on research projects related to resilience, innovation hubs, and public policy in urban contexts.

Romano Fistola, Department of Civil, Building and Environmental Engineering, University of Naples Federico II

Architect, Full Professor in Urban and Regional Planning at DICEA, University of Naples “Federico II”. His main research interests, developed over more than thirty years of scientific activity, are related to the study of the relationship between technological innovation and urban and territorial transformations, the interpretation of the city as a dynamically complex system, and the urban transformations induced by the climate crisis. In recent years, he has also focused on the possibility of envisioning urban transformation through the use of augmented and extended reality, as well as on the impacts of Artificial Intelligence on the functional and socio-anthropic systems of human settlements.

Giorgia Tucci, Department of Architecture and Design, University of Genoa

Assistant Professor of Urban Design and Planning at the Department of Architecture and Design (dAD), University of Genoa. Her research has mainly focused on the study of coastal agricultural cities in the Mediterranean, on the relationship in the provision of ecosystem services between coast and hinterland, on indicators identifying the character of territorial innovation, and on new cycles of food waste reuse, from biomaterials to bioproducts. She has been a guest lecturer at the Universidad de Málaga, UMA-eAM' (2017), Leibniz Universität Hannover, LUH (2019) and the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, IAAC. (2020). Since 2016 she has been the coordinator of the European project activities and management of the GicLab research group (UniGe, Genoa).

Carmen Guida, Department of Civil, Building and Environmental Engineering, University of Naples Federico II

She is a Researcher and Assistant Professor in Urban Planning at the Department of Civil, Building and Environmental Engineering of the University of Naples Federico II, where she also earned her PhD in Civil Systems Engineering in 2022. Her research focuses on urban accessibility, climate resilience, gender-inclusive planning, and sustainable mobility. She currently works on the PNRR-funded NEST - Network for Energy Sustainable Transition project and has collaborated on national and international projects such as STEPUP, MIETC, and Mobilage.
