Abstract

The beauty of agrarian landscapes is the result of the care given to the reproductive capacity of the land as well as the possibility of inhabiting it. For an adequate defense of this beauty it is necessary to know the underlying processes of landscapes, that is to know the processes which have led to their destruction and ugliness. The Milanese area is emblematic of the impossibility of isolating the countryside from the city, the agrarian landscapes from housing areas and therefore from contact, from modes of living and productive activities. The reconquest of agriculture of its original function of landscape maker must go hand in hand with the rigorous control of homebuilding, limiting as much as is possible the use of land.
