Abstract

The city is widely readable and the history tells us its building process through its rich analytic and cognitive narrations. Contents and forms dilate in the non-city, spread, hide themselves, appear extemporaneously; reference contexts change, general and specific forms change. The spatial continuity between the city and the non-city exists certainly under the point of view of the architectural form and historical culture, but a great attention has to be paid to the discernment of the different typological and functional models of reference. Of course there are common plots, but there exist structural filaments that are absolutely autonomous, specific and typical of a certain territory in the non-city. The real problem, unfortunately, is the difficulty/ability of recognizing and re-introducing them within planning actions and policies of territorial management
