Abstract

The essay aims to demostrate that the neapolitan coast, bordered to the east by Castellamare di Stabia and to the west by Pozzuoli, represents, with Naples in a central position, a valuable architectural and historical stratification identified sometimes by a series of punctual architecture, and sometimes by entire towns established by the ancient origin, up to express significant examples of contemporaneity.
In these treatise we analyze same sample works with the aims to use them as proof of the historiographic artifice which demonstrate our thesis.
The vision from the sea, for points or for panoramic readings, has been the subject of attention from the modern to the contemporary age, this has placed the emphasis on the historical and artistic age permitting to draw an historical reading from the sea.
In fact we found in two castels the incipit and the closing of the discussion- the castle of Baia, and the castle of Castellamare di Stabia- a journey that represents a significant pattern of Mediterranean culture: the culture that has always affected our architecture, with gold examples but also with the relationship between the individual parts and the whole. The evidence of the monument read in its entirety and in its relationship with the surrounding nature of its skyline.
