Abstract

In the last years Italian and European cities have employed consistent resources to valorize the strategic function of the port areas for the development of the territory. The Biennal exhibition of Architecture in Venice in 2004 has entertained an international show where 19 Countries have exposed their ideas to relaunch in the world the cities of water. Naples was not among you run her to the show but plans and proposals to retrain the Neapolitan waterfront animate the today’s political debate. This paper, through the analysis of the historical cartography, puts in evidence the changes and the principal transformations in the time of the become port area the greatest industrial reality of the Region.
