Abstract

The fight against unhealthy cities and the board of epidemic emergencies have always been part of urban concerns since the birth of the modern discipline. Nevertheless, human health is often little connected to planning both at academic (research and training) and operational level.

The article shows how an interdisciplinary research project has become the flywheel for the reconnection of these two disciplines. The LIFE project aims to study the determinants of multifactorial diseases and bring health concerns back in the urban debate.

The participation of some teacher of the AE&CC Master's degree of the School of Architecture of Grenoble (France) at this project has led to new educational reflections and to a change in the pedagogy of the final design studio of the Master. Although the project is still ongoing, we propose an evaluation of the first results obtained from this innovative process that managed to integrate the research themes in the students’ project.

The paper provides feedback on student and teaching staff experience during the experimental year by interviews and analyses of students' work.
