Abstract

The paper explores how the green and blue networks can represent the enabling infrastructure for of the process of regeneration and ecological transition of the contemporary city - a living organism, tangle of networks built by the action of countless, unpredictable and chaotic actors - to be pursued with the construction of green and blue frames, resilient and multi-scalar: a system of nodes and networks, at a territorial, urban, neighborhood and proximity scale. The paper investigates this topic through a clear standpoint (The system of open spaces as a supporting structure and glue of the regeneration of the contemporary city), tested by a multi-scalar project, the regeneration of the Scalo Farini in Milan, describing the ongoing process and its key steps (Regenerate the Scalo Farini), also with specific reference to green components and indicators aimed at measuring performance in the implementation phase (The green system as an ecological tool).
