PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Peer Review

Peer review ensures higher quality of published articles through a process carried out by all reputable scientific journals. Our referees therefore play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of Italian Journal Of Ergonomics, and all articles are evaluated according to the procedure described below.

A) Evaluation of Submission

All articles are initially assessed by the editors, who may decide to reject the article at this stage if it is considered insufficiently original or outside the scope and aims of the journal. Articles that meet these minimum criteria are forwarded to at least two experts to begin the review process. Authors of articles rejected at this stage will be informed within 2 weeks of submission.

B) Type of Peer Review

This journal uses double-blind peer review, in which both referees and authors remain anonymous throughout the process.

C) Selection of Referees

Referees are selected based on their expertise. Our database is continuously updated.

D) Review Form and Duration

Referees are asked to evaluate articles according to the following criteria:

  • Relevance of the article to the advancement of scientific research
  • Quality and rigor of the methodological approach
  • Quality and rigor of the theoretical framework within the disciplinary context
  • Clarity and quality of presentation
  • Relevance to the journal’s topics

Referees are not required to correct manuscripts. Language editing or formatting is not part of the peer review process. The review process typically takes 3 weeks. If reviewers’ evaluations conflict, an additional expert opinion will be sought, which may extend the process by a few weeks.

E) Final Decision

The final decision to accept or reject an article rests with the editor. The decision will be sent to the author along with any recommendations made by the referees.

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

This journal provides open access to its contents, believing that making research freely available improves global knowledge exchange.
