CODE OF ETHICS

The journal trame di letteratura comparata adheres to the good practice guidelines, recommendations and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for Journal Editors. All parts involved – authors, editors and reviewers – must know and agree on the following ethic principles.

Duties of Editors

  1. The Editor-in-Chief as well as the Editor(s) of each issue are solely and independently responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. In their decisions, they must follow the strategies and the editorial approach of the journal. They may confer with the Scientific Committee and are constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism.
  2. The Editor-in-Chief and the Editor(s) of each issue pre-review the received manuscripts and their decisions of acceptance or rejection are based on the contribution’s thematic relevance to publication’s scope, originality and appropriate submission format. Manuscripts complying with the above requirements and free of possible irregularities are sent to at least one reviewer chosen among scholars and experts external to the Scientific Committee and the Editorial Committee, according to a double-blind peer review procedure. If a manuscript is rejected, the author(s) will be notified electronically.
  3. The Editor(s) will ensure that the peer review process is fair, impartial, and accurate; and that manuscripts will be evaluated for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship or political philosophy of the authors.
  4. Manuscripts submitted to the journal will be treated as confidential documents throughout the evaluation process. The Editorial staff will not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.
  5. If the Editor-in-Chief detects or receives reports of errors or inaccuracies, conflict of interest or plagiarism in a published article, he shall promptly notify the author and the publisher, take the necessary actions to clarify the matter and, if necessary, withdraw the article or publish a retraction.

Duties of Reviewers

  1. Peer-reviewers assist the Editor(s) in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also help the author in improving the manuscript.
  2. A selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows its prompt review is impossible must notify the Editor(s).
  3. Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and their contents must not be discussed with others, except as authorised by the Editor(s).
  4. Peer review must be conducted objectively, with no personal criticism of the author. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
  5. Reviewers should also call to the Editor-in-Chief’s and/or the Editor(s)’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published essay of which they have personal knowledge.
  6. Reviewers must treat any manuscripts they are asked to review as confidential documents and will not use them for personal advantage.
  7. Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the submission.

Duties of Authors

  1. Authors are responsible for the manuscripts they submit: they guarantee the originality of their works. Authors ensure that the work and/or words of others are appropriately cited or quoted and identify all sources used in the creation of their manuscripts.
  2. Submitted manuscripts must not have been published as copyrighted material elsewhere. Authors must certify that the manuscript under review is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere.
  3. The authorship of the manuscript is limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, or execution of the study. The submitting Author must ensure that all eligible co-Authors are included on the manuscript and that all co-Authors have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript and have agreed to its submission for publication.
  4. Authors must clearly report any potential financial or other possibly important conflict of interest that could affect the results or the interpretation of the manuscript.
