Abstract

Leonardo da Vinci's approach to architecture and restoration is analyzed, highlighting his ability to interpret pre-existing ancient structures with a critical and innovative spirit. Through the cases of the dome of Milan Cathedral, the urban plan for the Lombardy capital, and the Etruscan tomb of Monte Calvario in Castellina, the book highlights a method based on direct observation, scientific investigation, and multidisciplinary approach. Leonardo anticipated the figure of the "integral" architect, capable of combining technique, art, and historical knowledge with a systemic and experimental vision that foreshadowed modern principles of restoration.
