Written by one of the most important scholars of ecofeminism, the book offers a sophisticated analysis of ecofeminism, by engaging with the most important works of eco-criticism and emphasizing the importance of linking theory with political activism.
One of the starting points of Critical Ecofeminism is Val Plumwood’s work, which first introduced the term “critical ecofeminism” to rethink the relationship between humans and non-humans. The volume is divided into three parts, “Theory”, “Illuminations” and “Climates”. While the first offers a critical discussion of a range of concepts such as sustainability and environmental justice, the second and the third part examine a series of case-studies by adopting a “critical ecofeminist” approach.
