In September, the first excavation campaign of the University of Naples L'Orientale took place at the imperial villa of the Pausilypon. The research is being conducted under an excavation concession and is set up as a research and training activity for students of the university's undergraduate and postgraduate courses, involving around fifteen participants in all phases of the work. The objectives of the multi-year research project are manifold: on the one hand to identify the archaeological remains in the area between the terrace of the theatres and the state-owned area overlooking the Gaiola, and on the other to define the architectural development of this sector of the villa and its chronological sequences.
