Abstract

The contribution aims to analyze the theme of friendship – “amistade”, “amici”, “amica”, “amistà” – in the Vita nova, in order to better understand its complexity in relation to Dante’s biography and its correspondences. By cross-reference, some authorial systems peculiar to the autobiography that develops between the libello and the Commedia will be investigated; and, finally, the friendship figures present in the Vita nova will be reflected upon: in addition to Beatrice and Guido Cavalcanti, several can be counted, such as the two friends who respectively invite the protagonist to a party and to compose a composition for the Beatrice’s death.
