The paper presents the results of an initial census of testamentary documentation from the Neapolitan and Salerno area produced between the 13th and 15th centuries. In particular, only those documents in which the testator is a notary were taken into consideration; of these documents the formal articulation and modes of corroboration were examined, as well as aspects related to the dynamics underlying the transmission of the testator's wealth and parental relations within the relevant socio-cultural contexts.
