Author Biography

Giuliano Baioni, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice

Giuliano Baioni (1926-2004) taught in Trieste, Palermo, Padova, Essen, Bologna and was a full professor of German Language and Literature at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where he was appointed emeritus professor in 2002. Specialised in works of G. Benn; F. Nietzsche; J. W. Goethe and F. Kafka, he obtained both Premio Gorizia and Premio Grinzane Cavour in 1998 for his scientific career. Among his writings: Kafka: romanzo e parabola (1962); Classicismo e Rivoluzione: Goethe e la Rivoluzione francese (1969); Kafka: letteratura ed ebraismo (1984); Il Giovane Goethe (1996). His last work was the publication of the Fontane’s Opere for “Meridiani” by Mondadori (2003).
He edited many works, including: J. W. Goethe, Inni (1967); G. Benn, Poesie statiche, (1998); Il Romanzo tedesco del Novecento (Dai Buddenbrook alle nuove forme sperimentali (1973); F. Kafka, Opere: Il processo, racconti, (1974); F. Kafka, Schizzi, parabole, aforismi (1983); R. M. Rilke, Poesie (1994); Il sublime e il nulla: il nichilismo tedesco dal Settecento al Novecento (2006).
