English article title: Phenomena of pertentuality in Hungarian wordless picture books. The case of Otthon by Kinga Rofusz
The first part of this article offers an overview of wordless picturebooks, underlining some of their distinctive characteristics and merits and commenting on the issue relating to the denomination, with particular attention to the appearance and fortune of this specific type of illustrated book in the Hungarian publishing industry. Consistent with these premises, the second part turns to a detailed analysis of Otthon (2018, Home) by Kinga Rofusz (b. 1978), which aims to highlight the dense network of figurative elements used to make the story ‘legible’ and cohesive in order to understand the function (as well as possible contribution) of textual representations depicted on specific supports within the picturebook illustrations.
