Abstract

The paper analyses the corpus of Dante’s lyric poetry proposing to place his moral songs on a theoretical level not necessarily directly connected to Dante’s political involvement before the exile. Finally, the paper assumes a link between Dante’ theory of nobility and contemporary debates about the selection of the municipal Podestà.
