Abstract

The choreographer Francesco Nappa presented, at San Carlo Theatre in Naples, his original work Pulcinella, at the eighth (and last) edition of Autunno Danza 2016-2017. The development of the subject is the opportunity to decompose the character, to reconstruct it into a modern vision, where is also possible recognizing primitive aspects of his past. The mask that Pulcinella does not wear is the symbol of separation between people and community. But the mask is always participating on stage through the evocative sculptures by Lello Esposito. The new work by Francesco Nappa reinvents a traditional character into a contemporary view, in the imaginary space of Naples as a city where the sacred and the profane are mixed in to a particular vision of life.
