Abstract

Andrea Camilleri concludes the Commissario Montalbano saga with the novels Il metodo Catalanotti (2018), Il cuoco dell’Alcyon (2019), Riccardino (2020).
Particularly, Il metodo Catalanotti includes the theatrical story of the author and his past as a stage director and teacher at the National Academy of Dramatic Art of Rome. The novel also contains elements of the theatre of the absurd and of the Pirandello theatre. This essay aims both to investigate the references to contemporary dramaturgy and theatrical practice present in the novel. These topics will be contextualized in Camilleri’s existential and artistic path.
