Author Biography

Donatella Calabi, Università Iuav di Venezia

Donatella Calabi was Full Professor of History of the City and Territory at the IUAV University of Venice, where she taught from 1974 until 2014. She was a visiting professor at numerous international academic institutions, including the Catholic University of Leuven, Harvard University, MIT, ENSA Paris-La Villette, and the Universidad Técnica de Madrid. Her research focused primarily on the history of urban planning in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and on the history of European cities in the early modern period. She served as president of the European Association of Urban Historians and the Italian Association of Urban History. In 2024, she received the Peter Hall Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Planning History Society.
