Author Biography

Rebecca Carrai, Kunsthistorisches Institut Florenz / Max-Planck-Institut

Rebecca Carrai is an architectural and design historian, currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the
Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max Planck. She is the co-chair of the EAHN Interest Group,
‘Building Word Image.’ She holds a Ph.D. in Architectural History from KU Leuven's Faculty of
Architecture, where she examined global domestic interiors through the lens of IKEA, the world’s
largest furnishing corporation. Her research broadly explores the intersection of capitalism and
architecture, covering interior design, material culture, media studies and anthropology.
